After months of collaboration, custom programming, and hard work, we're excited to officially launch the all new Stay The Trail Colorado suite of online applications.
The center of the new brand new website is a state of the art Joomla! Content Management System that will allow the Stay The Trail staff to regularly update content and more easily manage their online presence. The site includes photo galleries through a linked Flickr account, enhanced mobile features through a responsive design, embedded videos, and a cutting edge document management system. Stay The Trail gathers US Forest Service Motor Vehicle Use Map information into one place, and makes it easy for OHV users to ensure they're on the right track and riding responsibly. Now this information is just a click away using the new online system.
We were able to build a custom web-mapping system for Stay The Trail that displays trail system information in a a clean, responsive, easy to use interface. We call this system "Where To Go". The full-screen web map uses MapBox and OpenStreetmap data together with MVUM data from Stay The Trail to allow users to quickly find their preferred riding and exploration area.
Once a trail system is selected, a detailed page with information on best uses, popular trails, directions, maps, and photos displays. For trail systems located on a USFS MVUM, their exact location on the MVUM map is shown.
